As you know, quilting is far more than a hobby. It's a way of life! Life is busy and free time can be hard to come by, but we hope to offer a creative way to get you quilting alongside friends!

With the National Quilters Circle Quilt Block Challenge, our goal is to help you engage your passion, while connecting you with quilting friends! Over the course of nine weeks, we will be creating the beautiful Pleiades quilt pattern, designed by the talented Gina Perkes of The Copper Needle.

"I was inspired to create Pleiades by my love of the stars: both in the sky and in quilting. I love how versatile star blocks can be and the secondary designs that often result when combining them. This quilt is designed to transition through the full spectrum of color but can also be created in a monochromatic
color scheme if desired. I named the quilt after one of my favorite constellations - Pleiades." - Gina Perkes

Gina Perkes is a passionate quilter, educator, and business owner. She started quilting while pregnant with her second child - her first project being a bed quilt for her daughter.

In her two decades of quilting, Gina has won multiple awards, including the Best Longarm Machine Workmanship award at the AQS Paducah show. Her Nostalgia quilt is part of the American Quilter's Society collection displayed at the National Quilt Museum in Kentucky.

Gina operates The Copper Needle, an INNOVA dealership, and training center in Payson, Arizona. "It is very much a destination shop where we have many out of town visitors. Payson is a small, mountain town where Phoenix quilters like to come to escape the heat in the summer time. My shop is always happy, friendly, creative, and colorful. Visitors love the positive energy and cheery fabrics," Gina said.
